Welcome to the Made to Minister Blog!
We are excited for the opportunity to share biblical wisdom, valuable resources and counselor stories that will supplement the training we offer. We hope that this format will be another avenue of learning and encouraging you as you walk alongside others. But before we start sharing, we want to offer you the who, what, where, when, and why of Made to Minister and biblical counseling.
The Who:
All believers counsel. The question is: do we counsel biblically? Do we counsel so that we can make
each other feel better but never get better? Or do we counsel using the Word of God to point each
other to Christ? Colossians 3:16 commands us “Let the word of Christ dwell in you richly, teaching and
admonishing one another in all wisdom, singing psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, and with
thankfulness in your hearts to God.”
The What:
Biblical truth applied to your life and the lives of others. Biblical counseling is a form of intense
discipleship. It is a counselor and counselee walking together, with the help of God’s Word, through
specific seasons of life, suffering, or confusion. It is counsel that is rooted in God, exalts Jesus Christ, is
empowered by the Holy Spirit, and it must be fueled by love.
The Where & When:
Anywhere, anytime as God sees fit. Sometimes this might take place in a counseling room, sometimes a
restaurant, the bus stop, the classroom, wherever you find yourself when the need to address a hurt or
encourage a heart finds you.
Why:
To glorify God and make much of Him as we fulfill our part in helping the hurting and the Great
Commission.:
“Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son
and of the Holy Spirit, and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you. And surely I am
with you always, to the very end of the age.” Matthew 28:16-20
Through biblical counsel, we have seen people come to Christ, know Him more, and learn to go about
making disciples themselves. This is a piece of caring and growing the community of Christ. We want
people to know Jesus because he is the redeemer and ultimate healer.
We try to keep this in mind when we walk into a church, a conference, or meet the people God places
in our path. To think of how someday God will bring all his people together in a perfect community,
brings passion to our prayers and kindness to our words, for both those who know Jesus and those that
need to be invited in. We engage the broken because there is hope even when life is heavy and pain is
real. God’s truth reminds us to look up to Him instead of remaining focused on our circumstances,
because He can change any circumstance, offer wisdom to any problem, and heal any heart.
We have all been adopted into this broken yet redeemed community. Believers have all been made to
minister.
